Failure Scores and Test Attempts: Tracking in SCORM 1.2 and 2004

Claro enables you to set the number of attempts a user can take before their test attempts (and attempt to pass) are exhausted. This takes advantage of the Mastery score setting in the SCORM standard.

What this means in simple terms is that if you are using SCORM 1.2, the score on the test will not show up in the LMS until a passing score is achieved OR the total number of test attempts is exhausted. This article by Rustici provides more technical details: Does setting a score imply completion?

However, if you use SCORM 2004, failure test scores WILL be reported to the LMS (there is a lot less ambiguity for failure situations due to changes in the SCORM standard and the way elements can be evaluated). A user need not exhaust all test attempts before those scores are displayed.

So, in short, if you wish to see a test score published to the LMS after every attempt, regardless if the score is a passing one or not, publish your course using the SCORM 2004 standard.
